Singular Continuous Spectrum for Certain Quasicrystal Schrödinger Operators

We give a short introduction into the theory of one-dimensional discrete Schrödinger operators associated to quasicrystals. We then report on recent results, obtained in jont work with D. Damanik, concerning a special class of these operators viz Quasi-Sturmian operators. These results show, in particular, uniform singular continuous spectrum of Lebesgue measure zero.

Singular Continuous and Dense Point Spectrum for Sparse Trees with Finite Dimensions

Sparse trees are trees with sparse branchings. The Laplacian on some of these trees can be shown to have singular spectral measures. We focus on a simple family of sparse trees for which the dimensions can be naturally defined and shown to be finite. Generically, this family has singular spectral measures and eigenvalues that are dense in some interval.

Absence of absolutely continuous spectrum for the Kirchhoff Laplacian on radial trees

In this paper we prove that the existence of absolutely continuous spectrum of the Kirchhoff Laplacian on a radial metric tree graph together with a finite complexity of the geometry of the tree implies that the tree is in fact eventually periodic. This complements the results by Breuer and Frank in [3] in the discrete case as well as for sparse trees in the metric case. MSC2010: 34L05, 34L40, ...

Singular Spectrum for Radial Trees

We prove several results showing that absolutely continuous spectrum for the Laplacian on radial trees is a rare event. In particular, we show that metric trees with unbounded edges have purely singular spectrum and that generically (in the sense of Baire) radial trees have purely singular continuous spectrum.

Operators with Singular Continuous Spectrum, v. Sparse Potentials

By presenting simple theorems for the absence of positive eigenvalues for certain one-dimensional Schrödinger operators, we are able to construct explicit potentials which yield purely singular continuous spectrum. §
